Pastor Clarissa Carr Johns is a native of Mooresville, NC and has a deeply rooted connection with God. She embraced her faith early, being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit at the tender age of three. Pastor Clarissa is thankful for her Godly heritage and upbringing in a Christian household, with parents who prioritized Christian education, creating a strong foundation for her spiritual journey.
At the age of 12, she had a profound encounter with God, receiving a divine message about her future role in a Christian children’s radio program. Pastor Clarissa also showed entrepreneurial spirit as a young teen, starting her first candy-selling business, which later expanded to “Clarissa’s Refreshments,” a mobile snowball and candy truck. She based her business on Psalms 103:5, emphasizing the renewal of youth.
Throughout her academic journey, Pastor Clarissa excelled in Christian leadership and achieved notable recognition in track and field, moral character, spiritual leadership, and academics. She pursued a Bachelor’s Degree with dual majors at Davidson College and earned a Master of Education Degree with honors at Winthrop University, guided by the Holy Spirit. In her professional life, she became an Executive Director of her family’s community-based mental health agency, managing a team serving under-represented youth and adults in the Mooresville area. Pastor Clarissa later transitioned to inpatient, outpatient, and private practice, focusing on mental health services as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She also extended her care to foster parenting for two children.
Her service at Victory Christian Center in Charlotte spanned over two decades, where she held various roles and spoke on topics related to emotional and mental healing. Pastor Clarissa’s passion for personal growth led her to teach courses at different institutions, including More Than Conquerors College.
Pastor Clarissa played an integral part in the ministerial team at Mooresville Christian Outreach Church for over 12 years, gaining extensive experience in church functions and ministries. She was closely mentored by her father, the late Pastor Jim F Carr Jr., who encouraged her as he knew of her hidden calling.
In 2021, Pastor Clarissa married Dr. Phil Johns Jr. PA-C, and together, they share a vision of helping people realize their full potential. They co-founded a mental health practice in 2022, providing a range of services. Through prayer, their business has expanded beyond North Carolina to include Virginia, where they hold professional licenses.
Pastor Clarissa’s educational qualifications include being a Professional School and Community Psychotherapist, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Supervisor, and National Board Certified Counselor. She holds a doctorate degree in Christian Ministry from More Than Conquerors College. Pastor Clarissa was ordained into ministry and installed as the lead Pastor of Mooresville Christian Outreach Church in November 2023.
Above all, Pastor Clarissa’s life is a testament to her unwavering love for God, her dedication to helping people, her service to the community, and her heartfelt gratitude for God’s work in her life.

Members who serve in these areas play a huge role in making our guests feel safe and comfortable. They prepare the sanctuary between services, welcome our guests, getting to know them by name and help them to become familiar with our facility. These members also organize menus and serve in the kitchen for special events.

Members of our Evangelism Team are trained to share the Gospel to those that are Spiritually lost. We teach the word of God, help families and children by God’s leading and direction.
